I don't know why Kevin Gaudet keeps telling us that it is bad luck to always start the season with injured players.

I am not saying that it is his fault but I think there is something more to it than just bad luck.

Totally agree, and it wounds a bit pathetic to always mention the injuries. If you ask me the reasons are:

    - not hard enough summer training (i have no proof here)

    - too much use of the same players during the season.

Of course you can be unlucky and get a slashing...but all teams have those? Capitals injuries seem to be of another carachter.

Afaik is another signing of an import only possible if you "trade" him. For example lets say M.Rod will be longer injured. In this case you can set him as kinda "non-active" which means he isnt allowed to play during this period. And use his license for another import. Those trades are limited , i am not 100% sure but i believe 3 times per season.

How this is going on if one of the austrians would be injured i am not really sure, maybe i am wrong but i can remember something talked about signings of another import during season without changing him wont be possible anymore.

Danke! I thought i had seen the number 72 points somewhere...which is the same as you say with 3 "substitutes". I think Capitals have too many injury prone (verletzungsanfällig googled 8)) ) players...that will be a problem.

One question...let us say Rodman or Tropper or anyone is serious injured and can not play this season. Can the club then replace them with other foreigners? How does that work on the point system? Is there a maximum you can use during a season?

That was an ok-ish match from Capitals. Very impressed by the defender on try out...Bouchard. The young try out players were ok. I think they are better than Judex, Johnston and Lederer, so it will be a step in the right direction.

Im still not convinced about the centers...i know Selmser will do an important job, but an injury to him, Gratton or Rodman will lead to big problems. Hope Gratton was not injured when he left the ice today.

No, Stavanger released him out of his contract. A few guys around a local company ceo are paying his salary for SCL. +After he get released he had to take a salary much less then the 100.000 before, which comes from the current economic problems in europe.

Thanks. Good luck to Brooks, he was very popular in Stavanger!

    Bestätigung: Brendan Brooks dritter SCL-Ausländer

Brooks played for my home team in Stavanger last year, he is a very good icehockey player (but he f***s up in the playoffs), how do you understand this part?

"Sein Vertrag (knapp 100 000 Franken netto) ist aufgelöst worden, weil Stavanger in finanzielle Schwierigkeiten geraten ist und er kostet nun deutlich weniger als 100 000 Franken netto und ist damit der billigste Ausländer seit dem Aufstieg der SCL Tigers in die NLA. Die SCL Tigers haben Brooks gratis bekommen: Eine Männerrunde um den Bauunternehmer Hannes Stämpfli finanziert den Kanadier. "

Does this mean that Stavanger will pay a part of his salary this season?

It is rubbish that Stavanger are in economical trouble..they just wanted to get rid of Brooks cause he didnt have a good season, was too expensive and spent too much time drinking last season, but if they are actually paying him to play somewhere else..that is very weird!

The norwegian defender Ragnvald Soma has signed for Rapid from Viking Stavanger.

If you dont like Rapid: Laugh! He is really bad!

He takes good penalties...but the rest...no no no. Thanks for taking him from Viking ;)

Thanks. It is a bit weird that the norwegian national team can be better than the austrian league, cause i think you are right..the league is better in Austria. Mainly the imports in Norway is from Sweden and Finland, while in Austria you are very focused on the Americans. Last year Jonathan Zion played in Stavanger, he didnt set the league on fire but he was among the best defenders in the league.

Hi, my hometeam in Norway, Stavanger Oilers, have signed this finn:

I see he has many years behind him in Austrian league. Anyone who can give a clue what to expect from this player?

    Of course..Lakos :)

About 2nd line..i agree. Could be that Selmser is the man to play in this line...but if so capitals are very short on centers.

Schweda: I havent seen a lot of him, no. A little bit. And he was very far away from a place in the top6defenders last season, so unless he has taken big steps foward this summer, i have to admit i hope his time on the ice is limited. Cause if he plays a lot it is very likely due to injuries.

How is the squad this year compared to last year?

    Goalies:

Labbè vs Cassivi - Cassivi is, as Labbè was last year, the key to success. He must be among the best goalies in the league if Caps is going to the final. I thought Labbè had an ok season last year, but maybe a bit unstabile and not good enough in the most important matches.

Hummel has hopefully taken anothr step forward. As you understand im not from Vienna so i dont really understand this Hummel-hype...he is not a very big talent in my eyes. But he is ok as a second choice..maybe first choice once in the future.

    Defenders:

Werenka - Bjornlie: Bjornlie is pure class. Great defender and even better when attacking. Im not so sure about Werenka...he is sooo slow now. He surely has the level in his brain still, but is his body still there?

Casparsson - Kranjc: The swede has an ok season last year, im not sure if Kranjc is a better player than Lynch, who was great before xmas and poor after xmas last season. Hopefully Kranjc will have his form in the playoffs!

Lukas - Teppert: Takes over from Altmann/Nolan. I have a feeling that the last points in the squad will be used on a defender. There is something about Teppert...he can do great things and next second something stupid. I hope he can become a good defender, but im not sure.

Schweda - try out back: Will hopefully not play a lot.

    Forwards:

Lebeau - Gratton - Tropper: Gratton is in my eyes the best player in the league. The heart and soul of the Capitals. Lebeau is a good goalscorer, but how is his body? Will it last another season? Tropper is a good enguine to have in such a line.

Rodman - Rodman - Rotter: This is the main difference for Caps this season. 2 really good lines. Hopefully Rotter can find back to the form before his injury last season and this will be a really good 2nd line.

Ofner - Selmser - Dolezal: Im still not sure what Dolezals game is about. He is weird... Selmser is hardworking and i think Ofner will be a good addition. Can hopefully play a lot 4 against 5.

Kraxner - Nageler - Lederer: This line must be used for any chance of success. But it is very important that they dont lose their 5-7 minutes of the match. Are they good enough? I dont know...

And then there are also the other try out players. Will be an interesting season and it is great to have the option to get another foreigner without reaching the limit on the points!

Others who have suggestions for line ups? :)
