ich weiss das es täglich aktuelle news über die nhl auf hockeyfans.at gibt. nur dacht ich mir das der newsletter den die NHL jede woche verschickt auch ein paar leute interressiert. kopier ihn ab jetzt jede woche rein:

The changes made by teams during the busy NHL off-season
have already made a difference at this early stage of
    the season.

Boston's Martin Lapointe scored the game-winner against
Washington Monday afternoon and has three points in his
first three games, all Bruin victories.

Detroit's Dominik Hasek held Vancouver at bay by stopping
29 shots as the Red Wings won their second straight game.

Dallas' Pierre Turgeon assisted on both Jere Lehtinen
goals as the Stars beat Los Angeles Tuesday, 2-1.

Jeremy Roenick has been a house of fire in Philadelphia,
racking up five points in three games.

New York Islanders waiver draft pickup Chris Osgood
stoned the Florida Panthers Saturday night, 3-0, stopping
all 31 shots to up his record to 2-0.

Finally, two of the biggest acquisitions face off on
national TV Wednesday night as Eric Lindros' New York
Rangers host Jaromir Jagr and the Washington Capitals at
    8 p.m. ET on ESPN.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT: BRIAN SAVAGE -
    http://nhl.com/intheslot/read/spotlight/index.html
For hockey purposes, you can sum up Brian Savage in four
words: Skilled, intense, team player. But his career has
been hampered by injuries and he hasn't played a full season
since he played 81 games in 1996-97. NHL.com's John
McGourty profiles Savage and finds that his gameness and
willingness to help his team by playing hurt has been
    proven time and time again.

IN THE SYSTEM: PASCAL LECLAIRE -
    http://nhl.com/intheslot/read/system/leclaire100901.html
From a very young age, Pascal Leclaire knew he wanted to
be a hockey player. The Columbus Blue Jackets' top pick
from the 2001 NHL Entry Draft grew up in Quebec idolizing
Patrick Roy. One year when he was young, he told his
teacher that he wanted to be a hockey player when he grew
up. Her response was just to laugh and say "nobody does
that." Well, Pascal is on his way to making it in the NHL,
but he isn't in a rush to get there. He wants to learn as
much as possible before he gets to "The Show."

    LUNCH PAILERS: MARTIN LAPOINTE -
    http://nhl.com/intheslot/read/lunchpailers/index.html
Martin Lapointe is ready to prove his critics wrong. They
said Boston paid too much when they signed the free-agent
this summer. They said he was just a useful member of the
Detroit Red Wings, not a key ingredient. They said he is
good, but not "that" good. NHL.com's John McGourty wrote
that this season is Lapointe's chance to prove that he has
moved into the upper echelon of the NHL's talent pool.

    COFFEY: KOIVU FIGHTING BACK -
    http://nhl.com/columns/coffey/coffey_koivu101001.html
Anyone who ever watched Saku Koivu play hockey knew he
wasn't going to go quietly into the night in his battle
with cancer. NHL.com columnist Phil Coffey wrote that
Koivu has already taken an aggressive approach to fighting
cancer and no sight would make the hockey world happier
than seeing Koivu lace up the skates soon.

der newesletter von heute 22. 11.:

After a long day of turkey eating this Thursday, ESPN2
comes through with the perfect evening entertainment --
Los Angeles at Edmonton at 9 p.m. ET.

If sweating off those calories doesn't sound like a
good Idea, then watching the likes of Jason Allison,
Ziggy Palffy, Anson Carter and Janne Niinimaa skate
like the wind on the Oilers' fast sheet of ice will
    certainly raise your heart rate.

Also this weekend, ESPN2 will show Chicago at Detroit
in a matchup of two Original Six teams at 6 p.m. ET on
Sunday. The Red Wings have the highest scoring offense
in the League and also sport the NHL's best record.
The Blackhawks have kept pace, however, and are riding
goalie Jocelyn Thibault to stay lodged just behind
    Detroit in the Central Division.

The complete schedule of games on ESPN, ESPN2, Center
Ice and International TV can be found on NHL.com's
    schedules page.

    LUNCH PAILERS: KRIS DRAPER -
    http://nhl.com/intheslot/read/lunchpailers/index.html
The label of "Small man ... big heart" can be applied
to several small players who serve as the engines of
their respective teams' offenses. The Detroit Red Wings
have a contingent of small players forming the nucleus
of their team, including Steve Yzerman, Igor Larionov
and Pavel Datsyuk, but none have been more instrumental
in the team's quick start in 2001-02 than Kris Draper.

PICARELLO: ROY IS AVS' CALMING INFLUENCE -
    http://nhl.com/columns/picarello/avs112101.html
Believe it or not, Patrick Roy is the calming influence
in the Colorado Avalanche dressing room these days. If
you would have told that to NHL.com columnist Rob
Picarello two years ago, he would have never believed it.
But Roy has changed his attitude towards hockey by putting
less pressure on himself to perform and the result has
    been simply amazing.

IN THE SYSTEM: JEFF JILLSON -
    http://nhl.com/intheslot/read/system/index.html
Rookie defenseman Jeff Jillson knows he has a lot to
learn. But, NHL.com's Shawn P. Roarke wrote that Jillson
would just as soon do it at the NHL level with the San
Jose Sharks as anywhere else. Flying charters, eating
room service at top-end hotels and earning NHL money
would be fun for any 22-year-old. But, Jillson knows he
has to keep learning or he will find himself in
Cleveland, riding buses and eating fast food.

AHL REPORT: DETROIT RED WINGS PROSPECT JASON WILLIAMS -
    http://nhl.com/intheslot/read/ahl/ahl112001.html
Jason Williams was a nobody last season, now he is a
marked man. After averaging more than a point per game in
his last two OHL seasons, Williams was passed by during
the NHL Entry Draft. Motivated by the snub, Williams
worked to get invited to Detroit's training camp and
performed so well that he was one of the Red Wings' final
cuts. After rising to the top line of the AHL's Cincinnati
Mighty Ducks, Williams was called up for the NHL playoffs.

    newsletter vom 29. november

ESPN2 is the place to be this week for the best NHL
    action on television.

On Thursday, Nov. 29 at 10:30 p.m. ET, Teemu Selanne's
San Jose Sharks host the Pittsburgh Penguins. The
squads are nearly even in points -- 27 points in 24
for games for San Jose, 25 in 24 for Pittsburgh -- and
feature stellar goaltending. The Penguins' Johan Hedberg
has proven last season's playoff run to the Eastern
Conference Finals was no fluke while the Sharks' Evgeni
Nabokov is among the League leaders in goals-against
    average, save percentage and shutouts.

St. Louis travels to Minnesota on Sunday, Dec. 2 at
7 p.m. ET in an important Western Conference matchup. The
teams are tied for sixth place in the West. Marian
Gaborik has improved on his rookie year and has scored
26 points in 24 games after notching 26 points in 71
games last season. St. Louis needs defenseman Chris
Pronger to step up with Al MacInnis nursing a sore
    right ankle.

The first two games between the New York Rangers and
Washington Capitals were two of the most intense games of
the season and they hit the ice again on Tuesday, Dec. 4
at 8 p.m. at the MCI Center. The Nov. 23 contest ended
with a scrum and a 6-2 Caps victory. No doubt that
Eric Lindros' Rangers come looking for revenge.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT: JAROME IGINLA -

Jarome Iginla, who sits atop the NHL's scoring chart
and on the cusp of super-stardom, is riding an
unprecedented wave of confidence to unimaginable success.
Iginla already has 37 points in his first 23 games,
easily on pace to snap last season's career-high total of
71 points, and NHL.com's Shawn Roarke wrote that things
couldn't be going better for Iginla, or his Calgary Flames.

    MIKE EMRICK: EMRICK'S ANGLE -

Mike "Doc" Emrick is one of the premier play-by-play

insight into the world of hockey can be heard every week

without its countrymen who play in the NHL for most of
    the preliminary round.

AHL REPORT: VET CHAPMAN STILL ADJUSTING TO AHL -
    http://nhl.com/intheslot/read/ahl/ahl112701.html
Manitoba Moose captain Brian Chapman has seen his share
of changes during a 16-year career in professional hockey,
but few seasons compare to the transformation the
defenseman has witnessed this year. Not only did his minor
league franchise start a new affiliation with the Vancouver
Canucks, but the Moose also became one of six teams that
moved to the AHL after the IHL ceased operations during
    the off-season.

    hier der newsletter vom nikolotag.

@titus: no problem, trotzdem danke für das lob.

The NHL thrives on rivalries. Fans can get as pumped
up for a regular season contest as they are for a
playoff game when a bitter rival skates into town.

Over the last five years, one of the most heated
rivalries in the NHL has been Colorado vs. Detroit.

Both franchises have been at the top of the League
for a long time and they have won four of the last
    six Stanley Cups.

The rivalry has been fueled by intense head-to-head
matchups. Fans of both teams still harbor ill will
towards the other for events that took place up to
nearly six years ago: Steve Yzerman's 500th goal,
personal retributions on the ice, battles for
postseason positioning and eliminations from the
playoffs at the hand of the enemy.

With Detroit at the top of the NHL standings and
Patrick Roy playing some of the best hockey of his
career, there will be a playoff atmosphere on
ESPN's Wednesday Night Hockey from Joe Louis Arena.
Coverage begins at 8 p.m. ET.

his will on the team when given the "C" in 1998. Still,
he has thrived in the role and entered the 2001-02 season

    newsletter vom 13. dezember !!

The New Jersey Devils host the New York Islanders and
the Chicago Blackhawks host the St. Louis Blues
Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET in a pair of games to be broadcast
regionally on ESPN's "Wednesday Night Hockey."

Both contests involve important intra-division rivalries.
St. Louis trails Chicago by three points in the Central
Division while the Isles and Devils are battling for
positioning in the competitive Atlantic Division, which
has no team at or below .500.

This week's ESPN poll involves the 10 best active hitters
in the NHL. Fittingly, the featured Devils lead with
two candidates for the top hitter in the League (Bobby
Holik and Scott Stevens). The Islanders are also
represented with Michael Peca, who, pound-for-pound, may
be the hardest hitter in the NHL.

Jeff O'Neill was expected to do big things in the NHL,
beginning with his rookie campaign with the Hartford
Whalers during the 1995-1996 season. O'Neill, the
franchise's first-round draft pick in 1994, netted eight
goals and 19 assists in his first year, disappointing
totals for the player taken fifth-overall. NHL.com's
Shawn Roarke finds that he was skating as a third-line
center, which cut down on his ice time. After moving to
the wing, O'Neill potted 41 goals last season and has 29
points in 33 games this season.

the last two seasons and has not been able to get over the

The best of the Olympics and the NHL combine for a
superstar telecast Wednesday night at 8 ET on ESPN.

ESPN's Wednesday Night Hockey will broadcast the New
York Rangers vs. the New Jersey Devils, geographic
rivals who have a combined eight players who will be
playing in the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.

The Devils are looking for revenge after dropping a
4-3 overtime decision to the Rangers on Oct. 17. New
York's Theo Fleury picked up a rebound in front of New
Jersey's net 80 seconds into the extra period and put
it around goaltender Martin Brodeur's right pad for the
Rangers' third power-play goal of the game.

Team USA will add to tonight's festivities by announcing
more players to its Olympic roster during the telecast.

ESPN.com joins in with its weekly poll, which asks, "Who
is the best U.S.-born player?" Vote online, then tune in
during the game to find out how ESPN's hockey experts
    ranked the 10 players.

that makes him a valuable accessory in both ends of the ice.
Morris is in the midst of a breakout year, playing solid

COFFEY: A VERY GOOD DAY FOR BRODEUR -
    http://nhl.com/columns/coffey/brodeur121801.html
The 15th of every month -- pay day -- is always a big
day for New Jersey goaltender Martin Brodeur. The 15th of
December was one of his best hockey days ever as he was
first named to Team Canada's 2002 Olympic Team then went
out that night to earn the milestone 300th victory of his
young career -- a shutout, to boot. NHL.com's Phil Coffey
writes that 300 wins is worth considering on its own
merits since Brodeur, just 29, is the 18th goalie in NHL
    history to reach the plateau.

    Happy New Year!

ESPN's Wednesday Night Hockey wastes no time getting

    matchup Jan. 2.

No fewer than 11 players slated for Salt Lake (nine
Red Wings, two Mighty Ducks) will be in uniform when
Anaheim visits Detroit at 8 p.m. ET.

The Detroit roster reads like a who's who of NHL
stars, including Steve Yzerman, Luc Robitaille,
Brendan Shanahan and Dominik Hasek, while Anaheim
    counters with Paul Kariya.

Detroit has owned the Pacific Division this season,

found new meaning with the return to prominence of Felix
Potvin. After six outstanding seasons with the Toronto
Maple Leafs, the two-time NHL All-Star had brief stopovers
with the New York Islanders and Vancouver Canucks before
roaring back to glory with the Los Angeles Kings.

    CLIMATE ALERT
Changes in climate worldwide are having an impact on all
kinds of wildlife. Species are shifting their ranges,
migrating sooner, and bearing young earlier than in the
past. American robins and red-winged blackbirds frequently
arrive on their breeding grounds weeks before they once did.

Polar bears are among the most vulnerable species as far as
climate change is concerned. If Arctic sea ice starts to
break up earlier than normal in the spring due to climate
change, polar bears have reduced access to hunting and breeding
grounds. Female polar bears are not able to hunt enough food
to sustain them through the summer months. With lower body
weights the mothers have a hard time successfully nursing
their cubs. In Canada, the southernmost polar bear populations
are already experiencing declines in cub survival due to these
    factors.

Thanks to the "Bears Rule" campaign on the kid's section of
    NHL.com (http://nhl.com/kids/bears.html) young people are
learning more about polar bears. And, with Canadian Wildlife
Federation's Space for Species Web site
(http://www.spaceforspecies.ca/) they can track polar bear
    movements in Canada's north.

    QUOTE SHEET -
"To be perfectly honest, (Felix) was the main reason we made
the playoffs last season. Three other teams might have given
up on him, but without 'The Cat' I don't think we would have
    made the playoffs"
-- Los Angeles Kings center Ian Laperriere, on Kings
goalie Felix Potvin, who was acquired late last
season and led L.A. to the playoffs.

After a flurry of activity at the NHL's trading
deadline, ESPN's Wednesday Night Hockey brings
you a matchup of teams that each made deals to
improve themselves in recent days as the Dallas
Stars host the St. Louis Blues at 8 p.m. ET.

St. Louis acquired Ray Ferraro from the Atlanta
Thrasher on Monday in the hopes that he can
provide some veteran leadership down the stretch.

It was the Stars, however, who swung a blockbuster
deal at Tuesday's deadline, sending Joe Nieuwendyk
and Jamie Langenbrunner to New Jersey for Randy
McKay and Jason Arnott, who scored the Stanley Cup
winning goal for the Devils against Dallas in
Game 6 of the 2000 Finals.

Dallas and St. Louis are both in precarious
playoff positions. St. Louis sits sixth in the
Western Conference, three points ahead of ninth-
place Dallas. There could be some real shuffling
in the West in the regular season's final days,
as just nine points separate third-place San Jose
    from 10th-place Edmonton.

Tune in and log on to vote in ESPN.com's poll
of the "10 best" players without a Stanley Cup. Also,
don't miss NHL.com's Wednesday Game Night fantasy
    game (http://nhl.com/fancentral/fantasy/index.html)
where you predict the outcome of nine statistical
categories in the ESPN game to win great prizes.
