Kurzer Auszug aus dem Bericht vom gestrigen Training der Rangers:
ZitatOn defense, the situation was different. With four pairs on each team, six featured an NHL veteran matched up with a youngster. The fourth pair on Blue was Marc Staal with Dan Girardi (the two played together throughout training camp), and the fourth pair on White was Thomas Pock and Martin Richter. "There's two guys playing together that could be battling for a position," said Renney when we noted that these were the two D most consider the top two candidates for the seventh spot among the NHL blueline corps. Pock outplayed Richter in this game, but both were in fact solid.
Actually, if you look past the four top lines in this game and the obvious top six D, and reserve a spot for Colton Orr in the role of enforcer, there is an open question over whether the last two roster spots will go to one forward and one D -- with neither Immonen nor Moore having yet made a convincing case for themselves as NHLers, we could very well see Pock and Richter making the team, especially since Pock can play forward in a pinch. This would allow the two defensemen to battle it out during the course of the NHL season until Ortmeyer returns, hopefully sometime around the New Year.
vom Bueshirt Bulletin
