i wish this would happen in austria, but orf is kinda ignoring hockey over here. i am happy to hear that it works at least in slovenia right for the league. The only problem is right now if i compare slovenia with austria its just little piece of the cake (wikipedia -> 2 mio population, thats about what vienna have with all his surroundings)
but hopefully this wave of ebel/hockey fever swap over to austria to get some similar things happen.
i think that more "international" ebel with more attractive (and traditional) non-austrian clubs (bolzano, milano, strong medvescak, and maybe maribor) and feldkirch and dornbirn would be more interestng for the general austrian sports public... and the priority for ebel should be to put ebel league games on orf...i think that one of the main reasons that ebel has become so popular here in slovenia is that all jesenice games and a lot of olimpija games were live on our national tv and on sportklub (extremely popular sports tv)... steadily more and more people watched the games, tv ratings were higher and higher, and with the success of olimpia in the play offs the whole slovenia has become ebel crazy...
i think that the quality of hockey in ebel is good enough to get the intrest of general sports public in austria
-
no problem, was not sure therefor the question.
the problem with plane travels are they are not cheap, the league have to grow slowly and earn more money before you can start thinking about something like this
agree... that's exactly why i said "the league is currently not prepared for plane travels, but at some point in the future it might be" in my previous post...
i think ebel has great potential... here in slovenia we have a true hockey fever, ebel has become the most popular league out of all sports and tv ratings of ebel play off games are huge...

dunaj? i guess u mean vienna ?
medvescak = zagreb ?so far i dont see such unreal as long as all teams u called are competitive.
only 3 teams in your list are mhmm let me say are the big ??? in the 16 team calculation:
milano - its 300 km south west from bozen ... so its pretty far outside the western part of the teams (linz, vienna, volan especially) (vienna-milano 850km)
dornbirn and feldkirch, this "ländle" clubs are not really willing to step up and take the risk to play - cause the fear to destroy one more time an club financially
i wrote vienna in slovenian language, sorry for thatzagreb has three hockey clubs, medvescak (the one who wants in ebel and won three yugo titles from 1988-1990) , zagreb and mladost
i know that milano is very far away, and the league is currently not prepared for plane travels, but at some point in the future it might be... if ebel could get bolzano and milano in the league (one without another won't happen), i think the long trevel to milano would be justified (and each team could play both road games with milano in two consecutive days, so there would be only one travel to milano for each club in the regular season)
it would be great to have a tiroler derby in ebel (innsbruck-bolzano)
feldkirch is a legendary team and it would also be great to have a vorarlberg derby in ebel (feldkirch dornbirn)...
-
my dream ebel would have 16 quality teams:
9 austrian teams: salzburg, vienna, feldkirch, linz kac, vsv, graz, innsbruck, dornbirn
3 slovenian teams: olimpija, jesenice and strong maribor
2 italian teams: bolzano and milano
1 croatian team: medvescak zagreb (with quality players with croatian roots)
1 hungarian team: stronger alba
i know that the possibilities fur such a league are pretty small at the moment, but you never know...

i found out these infos about the ebel trophy...
The EBEL-Trophy:
Height: 98cm
Weight: 19,2kg
(Capacity inside the pot: 25 liters)On the trophy are engraved the winner-teams since the season 2003/04 (from that time on the league is called Erste Bank Eishockey Liga) within the players' names (26) and the names of the headcoach and assistantcoach.
-
i didn't find any appropriate theme in this forum, so i have opened this one...
because i can't find any information about the EBEL trophy anywhere on the net, i would really appreciated if someone has some facts about the EBEL trophy (height, weight, who made it, what is engraved on it - only team's names or also the players' names, etc.)?
You know, there's a true EBEL fever here in Slovenia. And there are a lot of people who would like to find out more about this trophy that can potentially be won by Olimpija or Jesenice.

thank you konig... that's exactly what i meant... -
i hope that ebel league would soon also give slovenian champion (the best slovenian club in ebel)...

my call is 4:2 for jesenice
and i am so pleased that the referree will be SCHIMM ... in my opinion he is the best referree in the ebel leagu
-
are there any video highlights of the game available?

this picture proves that there was no offside...

tnx for the highlights
-
that was not good... i am a big salzburg fan but i admit that the referree robbed olimpija of tonight's win... and it was all shown on slovenian national tv, and i think tonight's game can develop into a serious scandall... the comentator (who is one of the most respected slovenian sports journalist and comentators who covered numerous world championships in hockey, soccer and athletics) pointed out that the decisions of an austrian referree were disgraceful
i think salzburg is an extremely quality club who doesn't need such help from the referees in this league... its a shame that all this happened...
-
sator knows jesenice players extremely well and i am sure he will prepare special tactics for tonight's game, but i believe/hope that quality will come to the forefront and that jesenice will return to slovenia with both points
-
the game will be live on our national tv (RTV SLO 2), and the entrance to the west stands is free... olimpija plays very good when tivoli is full, so i expect very tough game that will go in over time and shutouts where i think olimpija has more chances (because of westlund)
-
congrats to kac... you were the better team tonight...
