Urbanek was with the team for the first fall tournament but has been serving with the U15s ever since. The U15 season is over so I wouldn't be surprised to see him rejoin the team as he is one of the better defensemen.

Sure, I wasn't aware of the injury but he had two points and the others had 3. You are of course very invested in Leon's career so I'll ask you, where does he see himself playing next year?

I only watched the overtime period because I came over from weeping at the U18 game.

I like what I saw, I liked the physicality of the team and the speed. Austria was the better side in overtime. It's a big pity Ganahl didn't get a chance to further his hockey education and career as a junior, because he's incredible. Herzog came up big in the shootout, he has a bait and switch tactic which really paid dividends. The Norway side was far more complete than the Austria side so I'm very excited to see many of these players once the full team is put together.

One concern, how will Bader use Mario Huber. Huber is an integral part of the future of this team, and is already more potent than half the guys on the 3 lines above him. Bader heavily prefers skaters, but I don't see many of the guys above him being integral parts of the NT in a few years.

Great win, missing a lot of stars, I'm very excited to see how this team will perform in the upcoming years.

can't say anything about Kromp an Zwerger, but Baltram got injured in deh Game against Caps on Saturday. so thats the reason he will miss the games

Mmh, I mean join as in the long future, probably earliest next WM, but they are a part of the big picture future.

kromp is out of shape. in villach he's just getting some shifts in line 4.Needs to improve physical strength in summer-break.

Mmh, sad that not even many of the youth can be around this time. The exciting names of the guys on the list to me are Wolf, Viveiros, Haudum and Huber, be nice when Kromp, Zwerger, and Baltram can join. I'm pretty optimistic for the future. Don't know if there's been optimism in the past and it's gone unrewarded, but I feel like the median skill level of these guys is rising.

And still no Christof Kromp...wonder what that's about.

At least it's a chance to integrate some of the youngsters. Friendly tournaments usually feature B rosters, at least it gives more playing time to younger athletes, the future.

I'll be the first to admit I don't know much about Women's hockey, however, it seems interesting and I am curious. I see two U18 members on the NT roster. What is the process by which female hockey players are scouted and progress their careers to say where Janine Weber and Denise Altmann are? In general do you feel the team is young and trending upwards?

I still think if you could string together a few sponsors putting a team in St. Polten wouldn't be a bad idea. If there are any hockey-loving Billionaires here, this one's for you :veryhappy: :veryhappy: :veryhappy:

Has 1 goal 1 assist in 4 Elite A games this season. Top three talents in the 00' class are absurdly talented. All are long and with great hockey IQ.

Bernd scored his 4th assist of the season in a 2:1 win for Langenthal. He began the season without a point in 20 games. However, including my last post he has heated up to 4 points in the last 8 games. :)

Impending Swiss Regulations and their Impact on Austrian Hockey
    https://authockeytxreports.wordpress.com/2017/01/22/imp…ustrian-hockey/

This is especially addressed to Vorarlberg parents of athletes being recruited to Switzerland.

There's been some club interference to try to get the most talented players to stay in the system. I understand it is in the club's best interests for the most prodigious athletes not to leave, but speaking from a purely hockey perspective it is not in the interests of prospects nor the national team for prospects to stay and I feel it is best that the parents have all the information available to them to make an educated decision.

I know these are only friendly matches, but why Bischofberger and Rauchenwald over Kromp and Huber? Also think the Kristler and Fischer pick look a bit like a legacy picks. Can't wait for Dominc Zwerger to finally join a men's team. The core of the team of the future is exciting, but the star-power isn't quite there. Will see and remain optimistic.

May I ask which half dozen of people you mean? This is not meant as a stupid question, I just have no clue here.

The first ones are a little weird only because one was hired by Kalt and the board but Suhonen and Bader, who was hired by Suhonen. I've been a critic of both at times, but you talk to people and they're very involved and have a hand in almost everything as far as the National teams. Coaching development, program development, recruiting scouts, fitness development, they're controversial but not lazy.

Pierre Page, the infrastructure he was able to pass with the RBS Academy and also his work at EC Salzburg (a few Championships) and recruiting some of the best coaches overseas and establishing the connections that make the RBS Academy. RBS is where all the most talented prospects go upon return (ex. Baltram), and overwhelmingly has the most Junior NT players and Junior NT players on call.

Then there's the Austrian agent, not going to drop a name but many of you probably know. Almost all the big Austrian Hockey Transfers have been related to him from deals like Thomas Raffl to the Jets to Christof Kromp to the Windsor Spitfires. To some extent he has a monopoly on Austrian hockey, but he's willing to invest in Austrian hockey and he's given countless kids and men a shot at furthering their careers.

There's also a scouting force that created the Swiss Pipeline through recruiting talent (often against RBS), which is the other major feeder of Junior National Team players and increasingly National Team players as well, like Bernd Wolf, Patrick Obrist, joining Ulmer and Herburger.

Again, perhaps Kalt has done more and I'm just not aware and would like to be enlightened. However, to my knowledge it's been other people really driving the machine for the past few years.

    Zitat von Vaclav Nedomansky

Hier sieht man wohl das Lebenswerk für den Eishockeysport in Österreich und nicht einzelne, diskussionswürdige Punkte, die man so oder so bewerten kann....

Poetic but only so meaningful. The fact that he gave his life to developing hockey doesn't mean his impact on the development of hockey was large. Perhaps the sum of his life's work is greater than a few talking points but if his work can't be broken down or described with talking points or a list of achievements then it's hard to pretend he was indeed all that effective.

I definitely would not blame the "decline" of Austrian Hockey on Kalt. Hockey also "declined" in Germany, Latvia and other nations only because the sport is more and more accessible to more nations and that increases competition. However, at least I personally feel Austrian hockey is rising again and I can think of at probably half a dozen people in the last 5-10 years who have done more to positively influence the direction of Austrian hockey than Dieter Kalt. In that respect I don't agree with the nomination, but I never mind awards being given to the Austrian hockey community because they bring visibility to the sport.

Perhaps I'm ignorant and in that case I'd like to be informed. What were the major accomplishments or major institutions ushered in by Dieter Kalt? He was perhaps you could argue a quiet driving force, not vividly in the public eye. The transition from legios on the NT took place during his tenure, but what else?

For better or worse I can think of at least three or four guys who've had larger impacts at least visibly on Austrian Hockey in the tenure that he served. However, I'm open to the idea that he was a driving force behind the scenes and not a public figure to be adored. What were some of his accomplishments other than having been around a long time and how did those affect the trajectory of Austrian Hockey?

    @kabidjan14
    Was fuer eine traurige Nachricht.
Was macht Bernd Wolf in der NLB?

    Lg Fields

Not really sad, he is on loan from SC Bern. NLA teams loan their best Junior players who would otherwise needlessly dominate the Elite Junioren league to NLB teams, much like in UEFA football. Current SC Bern defenders on loan include current Swiss U20 Yannik Burren and former Swiss U20 Tim Dubois both on loan to Visp, and current Swiss U20 Colin Gerber to Langenthal as well.

However, his contract is up at the end of the year, and if he doesn't prove himself in time he might have to spend some time in the NLB.

Just curious, what is a rough estimate of what HCI can offer legios? Hope they could go for a big transfer especially in the another D-man category.

Also, good to see attendance is up, 2700 in the past two games. Hopefully success brings the fans out.
