Belarus is making easy work of Kazakhstan so it looks like promotion chances are over. Here are my thoughts on the U20 Championship this year.

Next will you say Emre Kandemir is better than Pfeffer ;)

Recently and in the past I've received both player and faculty critique about Zundel, or just name dropping him in conversation, so I will definitely consider him more next time. Choosing Nickl was a call I made by myself, more about things I've observed that I like. I like Nickl's physicality, I weigh the fact that he has nice size, is a lot younger and I feel he doesn't really surrender an immense amount of ground on the basics like puck control, he's pretty good skater. Of course Zundel is a great skater. Between now and the end of the season I anticipate events may force me to move Zundel up anyways, but I do think Nickl is a sleeper who if given the chance could be a real revelation.

The others weren't very hard choices. I like Kandemir but he's been struggling, and as far as the developmental timeline is concerned if he doesn't get on track soon he'll have it rough moving forward and even more so with the new Swiss import rules. If Schubert's stats/measurables were inaccurate as has been brought to my attention then sure, Kandemir would claim the sixth spot over Schubert. I have preferred Kandemir to Hochegger every step of the way but people with more power haven't, and Hochegger may get a pretty defined advantage sometime.

Rudisser is pretty good, he actually tried out for a big Swiss club's youth team and got accepted and got an offer. He declined the offer...he's a 16 year old with an early birthday who is still at Rheintal. As far as vs. Harnisch, Harnisch has been selected to a lot more NTs where he has impressed me, and many others, in fact I don't know anyone else who shares your opinion but I'll consider it next time anyways.

Same principle with Beck, whatever career or interest he wishes to pursue is great, however, if one of those is hockey then his decision to continually turn down transplant offers has really made his prospects extremely precarious. I don't want to say it's too late, but he has to move fast to have a shot, and most of the other guys in consideration have given themselves a much higher ceiling to work with.

I had Wimmer on my first two lists and got some criticism for it. The straw that broke the camel's back is of course his move to OHCE and his subsequent mediocrity in their U16 program. He has about one year to become Florian Baltram, good luck to him I'm definitely cheering him on but it's not an easy path.

I'll admit that there's an element of evaluation that has more to do with what I am aware happens behind closed doors rather than what happens on the open ice. However, I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing, though you are free to disagree. If I don't consider everything I know about the individual situations of players and just go off of what is on the ice then to some extent I am just burying my head in the sand.

Es wäre besser sie würden ihre Information direkt bei den Trainer holen und die Spiele selber anschauen. Ihre Informationen aus Dritter Hand entsprechen nicht der Realität

I think the underlying assumption is that I don't watch perhaps as much as I should. I probably do need to spend more time on film, there is always room for improvement, room to get better and I'm not at all exempt from that. You're very invested in the current U16 team and that's great, I'd love to hear if you had a player you would like to recommend, so on and so forth. However, I have access to streams and video banks, some of which are public domain but many of which are virtually or genuinely restricted access. I never like revealing my hand as far as what resources I have, but I wouldn't assume just because I don't share your opinion on some players that I haven't seen the players and just asked a spectator for his opinion.

Impending Swiss Regulations and their Impact on Austrian Hockey
    https://authockeytxreports.wordpress.com/2017/01/22/imp…ustrian-hockey/

This is especially addressed to Vorarlberg parents of athletes being recruited to Switzerland.

There's been some club interference to try to get the most talented players to stay in the system. I understand it is in the club's best interests for the most prodigious athletes not to leave, but speaking from a purely hockey perspective it is not in the interests of prospects nor the national team for prospects to stay and I feel it is best that the parents have all the information available to them to make an educated decision.

Urbanek was with the team for the first fall tournament but has been serving with the U15s ever since. The U15 season is over so I wouldn't be surprised to see him rejoin the team as he is one of the better defensemen.

Sure, I wasn't aware of the injury but he had two points and the others had 3. You are of course very invested in Leon's career so I'll ask you, where does he see himself playing next year?
