can you tell us something about the background of your financial crisis? who was the sponsor that did not comply to its commitment? what about the quarrel between the club and the city of zagreb about the stadium? how is the attendance now you are back in zagreb and how was it in the other stadium?

    Uhh, ok I’ll try.

    - the crisis: the new financier gave some of his money and counted on main sponsor (INA- gas industry) and Citroen.

Once they gave up all hell broke loose and he didn’t want to take any more financial obligations from his budget.

Now our new/old president is trying to find connections from all around to make something happen.

We all hope he will manage to do that.

    - the quarrel is no “biggy”.

Presidents of some other sport clubs (like handball) always looked at us as “secondary sport” and are/we’re a bit jealous of our succes back then.

The city never gave much money for hockey but also mr. Gojanović himself wanted to be as independent at possible so...

    - it was fine at Sisak (Zibel arena) because it is a hockey city and many of us attented the games from Zagreb (it’s a short distance)

In Dom sportova is relatively sad this year (1500, 2000 but sometimes 700-800).

But this drop started already in KHL and golden years of EBEL (2009-2013) when we had 6500 on average and also Arena (15000) will not return. :(

    Everything is clearer now..

We will continue with mostly domestic roster + Brine, Svensson, (hopefully) Hardy,Robar, Simšič and Čepon.

Few sponsors stayed with us and some from who we expected big help now started with blackmailing so they’re “off” too.

It is really sad to see, what with medvescak zagreb is happend now ;(

I liked the fans and the organisation, but i think, the story could be near the end at the end of saison in the EBEL.

I hope, that the organisation find a big supporter and we will see medvescak zagreb with professional players and a competitive team in EBEL again, next year!

Thanks for kind words shadow2711 but I also fear that we are in deep, deep trouble for EBEL.

Our new/old president has many connections in bussines world but to find new general sponsor powerfull enough is difficult in such short period.

Problem is also that the fan base dropped through the years (and it started in KHL’s last season most noticeably) to about 2000 on average which is far away from spectacles with 70000 ppl in 5 days (Arena Zg), full Dom sportova, Šalata “freiluft” classic’s...

And we know that the sponsors (and the league also) would like to see exactly that (which is normal), but it’s almost impossible to reach that level ever again.

    Hello,

we are still alive but with many difficulties ofcourse.

Coach and his staff got the "incentive" in the form of the foot in the rear end :prost: and some players (esp. those which are brought by him personally) went away first.

Unfortunately, more of them will leave and currently we have about 8-10 players determined to stay at the "Den".

Some players will now come from M2 team and new acquisitions are depending on financial possibilities where we are a bit "short" at the moment.

Based on todays info, the league will give us a chance to consolidate now as much as we can to finish the season regularly.

We got knocked down but we'll get up again.

Greetings, good night & of course ZIG ZAG

    Alles anzeigen

I hope we will see Zagreb next year in EBEL.

You have incredible fans, i always wanted to go to Dom Sportova, hopefully next season :prost:

    Yes, now it is..

When we filled Arena 5 days in a row (70000 fans) and marketing value of league was rising to the roof (as was stated from EBEL leadership) it was all great and cool about ZG.

    But that’s life (business) eh?

Anyway, I could never kick someone when he’s already “down” like you are doing now..

    Greetings from ZG.

    This is only your assumption.

No need to worry, nobody is coming from nowhere because we used all the extra points given from the league.

And we cannot afford any new profi player, that’s why we play with our roster.
