The Penguins exposed numerous holes in the Philadelphia Flyers' roster. What do you think GM Ron Hextall does (UFAs, trades, draft, or prospects promoted to the NHL) to improve the team? Also, what do you think he does with Wayne Simmonds? -- @kriskringle1977

We'll park the talk of the Flyers needing a goaltender for now because Brian Elliott and Michal Neuvirth are signed through next season and Carter Hart is on his way. He'll be labeled as the savior by many Flyers fans. He shouldn't be. That's too much pressure to put on the 19-year-old. He might not be ready for prime time next season. Moving on from the obvious, though.

What the Flyers need right away are two bottom-six centers and another top-six left wing. Sean Couturier and Nolan Patrick are a solid 1-2 punch down the middle, especially with Patrick now having a season behind him and Couturier proving he belongs in the conversation with some of the best two-way centers in the NHL. Morgan Frost, 18, might be on his way soon too. But the Flyers can't bank on that immediately, so they have to get deeper down the middle this offseason. Valtteri Filppula can become an unrestricted free agent and I don't expect the Flyers will bring him back. Jori Lehtera could be a buyout candidate. Scott Laughton could fill one of those spots, but the Flyers need to use some of their resources to build their center depth. And I'm not sold on Michael Raffl or Oskar Lindblom being top-six left wings on a contending team. They're great for depth, but the Flyers need another scorer on the wing to complement Claude Giroux, Jakub Voracek and Travis Konecny. Simmonds, who has one year left on his contract, could be traded, but the Flyers could hold onto him, keep him on the third line, and see what he can do. He turns 30 on Aug. 26 and has played a lot of hard minutes in his 804 NHL games, playoffs included. I'm skeptical about giving him a long-term Extension.

Nachdem sowohl Brian Elliott als auch Michal Neuvirth noch einen Vertrag für nächste Saison habe, wurde Petr Mrazek kein Qualifying Offer gemacht und er wird somit UFA (vermutlich haben auch seine schwankenden Leistungen dazu beigetragen). Link

Würde ins Schema der Rangers passen .. als Backup.. bin gespannt wo er landet .. sehe nicht bei vielen Teams die einen neuen 1er suchen ..

Kann sich Mrazek überhaupt langfristig als 1er etablieren? Er hat doch sehr starke Leistungsschwankungen und ob er ein Team tragen ist für mich mehr als fraglich.

besser als die jetzigen in Buffalo wäre er meiner Meinung nach ..
