I feel it would be redundant to create a thread for each prospect from SC Rheintal because it is an Austrian pipeline with a long history of players such as Dominic Zwerger, Patrick Obrist, and more recently players like Marco Rossi, Adem Kandemir, Julian Meztler, Emre Kandmir, Kilian Zundel, Travis Pokel and more.

The most recent player to shine from this pipeline is Gion Coray (2003) playing the in Mini A league. He posted a stat line of 20 points in 9 games at the Mini A league and has been a feature on the OEHV U14 National Team.

Is this true? I couldn't research a definitive passport, however I know he played a few seasons in both Dornbirn and Wolfurt, which are cities in Austria right?

Both are correct right? I'm just curious now as to why he would play in and spend so much time in another country. I know his dad is a sports manager, is it to do with that?

And on the subject, do you or is anyone aware of the nationality situation with Redmond Savage? Played for Austria in the Canada tournament but I don't see how he could have gotten a passport so quickly. If his birthday is in the last 3 months of the year he will be ineligible to play for the US as well.

    Dornbirn and Rheintal work together....
Gions Dad is the Nachwuchschef from Rheintal and in Switzerland you can play with two Lizenz.

    Taibel,Rohrer are Austrians!

    No idea about Savage.

Haha, you seem to know these people. I'll check those two up right now.

Also, just a question about names. I look at the roster and see a lot of Austrian names like Koch, Bischofberger, Metzler, Nussbaumer, etc. Are they Austrian or do Austrians share some common last names with swiss people?

Yep, this is why I started the thread, glad to run into someone who knows a thing or two, if not you seem to know a person or two haha

Lol I saw the name Taibel on my first go around and figured "ok that has to be a swiss name I've never seen it before"

Also, I believe the Hubert Trstenjak kid is Croatian right? I was talking with a former Croatian hockey journalist about it a few days ago and I mentioned that I had come across Trstenjak, and he found an article of Hubert having played juniors for Medvescak.

There are other good players like Jonas Kutzer, Elias Thurnher or Ondra Strohua.
They are not snipers, but very important for the team.
As i know they will stay in Dornbirn/Rheintal

Any word on a transfer destination for Jannik Fröwis? He's flying under the radar a little bit because of bad birthday luck. He was 2 weeks too old to play in the U16 tournament, despite being the same draft year as players like Benny Baumgartner, David Maier, Julian Payr, and too young/small to play in the U18 championship. He actually performed the best of all the Elite Novizen kids, with 45 points in 46 games. He's too good and getting too old to stay at Pikes, is there any word of a transfer destination for him?

Also, the situation at Davos is fairly interesting. Davos already has 3 foreigners under contract for next year in Pilgram, Pilloni, and Kiss. Pilgram may apply for a swiss player's license after this season however or may already have one. This leaves a finite amount of spots for Payr, Baumgartner, Rauter, and Kortin on the U20 team, however it is imperative for these kids to be playing in the U20 league when they are 16 if they are to have a chance at taking the next step at a young age, so the competition there could be intriguing.

That's good, somewhat of an Italian based club there, if he takes an import spot it will both aid us and take away from the destination potential of some Italian players. He should do better than Timo...

Is anyone else leaving Pikes next year? I know Fassler was talented, I see him returning home though...

I hope so as well. I addressed him on the Top 5 (+1) prospects. He is easily the number one Austrian goalie for the year 2001, but that is not saying much, only competition would include Brandstatter, Schultes, Horn...he's been inconsistent in the games I have followed him. No doubt talented but needs to leave Dornbirn. Not talented enough to make the list, I give deference to skaters, just as in the NHL draft you rarely get goalies drafted high...

Is Oliver Turan Austrian or Slovak? He's played for a few Slovakian select teams, but is not listed as having a Slovak passport.
