Die Omaha Lancers verfasst Maximilian Haselbacher mit dem 110. Pick in der 7. Runde.

Entschuldigung
My native language is English. I try to use German to make it convenient for others but it seems that is not the case. A question for the moderators, are there rules against posting in other languages? -

16U Championship Game
Omaha AAA 2 vs. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 1 – The Omaha AAA Hockey Club won their second NAPHL 16U Championship in the last three years thanks to a 2-1 win over the Anaheim Jr. Ducks. The Ducks tried its best to erase a two-goal deficit, but Omaha would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 2-1. A goal by Jaden Anderson put Omaha up 2-0 in the third period, but Anaheim pulled to within one on Patrick Choi’s tally 7:11 into the third period. Omaha was sparked by Anderson, who registered one goal. Anderson scored on the power play 1:28 into the third period to make the score 2-0 Omaha. Bryan Yoon picked up the assist. Omaha forced Anaheim goalie Alex Frosh to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. Drew Pflug also scored for Omaha. More assists for Omaha came via Austin Long, Johnny Bennis, and Jasper Weatherby, who each chipped in one. In addition, the Jr. Ducks received assists from Paul Selleck and Andre Ghantous, who contributed one each. Maximilian Haselbacher made 22 saves for Omaha in the win.

Maximilian Haselbacher's counterpart goalie who posted similar statistics in the regular season did not play in the AAA U16 playoffs because he was representing the United States team in the Youth Olympic games that won the Gold Medal.
Haselbacher finished the playoffs with a 0.25 GAA and a SV% of .987 which is ridiculous, finishing as the best of 19 goalies in the playoffs. The second best goalie only played 2 games and was not nearly as good, finishing with a 1.50 GAA and a SV% of .942. His rights are owned by the Omaha Lancers of the USHL, and he could become just the 3rd Austrian goalie to be drafted in the NHL.

Maxi will play in the NAPHL 18U this upcoming season (barring a special phone call, unlikely), and then either straight to NCAA or one year in juniors (NAPHL generally feeds NAHL). He didn't do a great job at USHL camp a year ago and so he was left unprotected. One thing about drafting goalies, goalies are routinely drafted overage, such as Adin Hill. I'm sure he's on college radars, just needs to continue raising his stats.

Maxi was on the 30 man protected list for the Omaha Lancers until 2015 September 22nd. The camp was beginning of June. The only one so young on the list was Brandon McManus.
As you can see - they thought he is equal to an US Player (Citizenship US). Brian Kaufmann (Coach Omaha Lancers) called Maxi to let him know, after they checked all the information, he occupied a needed import player spot. Maxi was very downcast because normally they should know beforehand and not keep the hopes up for young players.
To make things clear - the goalie Coach from the Lancers at time was also Maxi`s goalie at his team. So they knew exactly what Maxi is capable of.
For this year. Maxi was invited to the USHL Fargo Force camp. They where very found of him and will monitor him during the upcoming season. Regarding NAHL - he had also camp invitations for end of July but unfortunately his Visa ran out July 17th.
For this season - he will play with the Omaha AAA U18 - his Visa will expire July 2021 and he will be equal to an US Player after this season.
He know what he wants and will work his butt off for it.

The only thing I was aware of was that he was eventually cut from the protected list, for one reason or another. I was also aware that he got a camp invite this summer, but this is his draft year and he still hasn't made a team. That's not to say he won't. NAHL is not a favorable option. I'm sure NCAA coaches are also monitoring him, but I'm not aware of any recruitment going on at the moment. As I pointed out, goalies have a higher overage draft rate than skaters, so I wouldn't be too worried. He is the most talented goalie prospect out of Austria since...before I got into Austrian hockey. I wrote in my most recent post a segment on him and the NT. On many levels his club and NT situations are messy, but the old saying "it's all eventually decided on the ice" I think is very true for him.

Is anyone aware of if Max is going the NCAA route or considering another route?
