Victory against Denmark 4-3 :veryhappy: :veryhappy: :veryhappy:
Benjamin Baumgartner and David Maier continue to be the stars of the tournament. The Baumgartner-Wolfharht-Rossi line continues to be very effective and the second line with Huber and Kandemir lacks nothing in potency either. Norway also beat Italy 3-2.

PS. The Germany game picture was fairly ironic if you look at it from the size standpoint, it quite illustrated my earlier point.

The U16 team continues to be the best U16 team in recent memory. Meanwhile, the U18 team looks like the worst team in recent memory. Today they suffered a 5-1 loss against Germany, following a 4-0 loss to Slovenia and a 7-1 loss to Belarus U17 before that. A few more confusing roster cuts took place. Nicklas Wurschl was left off the defensive side, and even more confusingly Marcel Zitz was excluded from the offensive side. To put this in perspective, Zitz scored more than NTU18 leading scorer Samuel Witting this past season, is larger and actually has a shot at being drafted by a north American club. In his place were a few players like Alexander Maxa, David Konig, and really just about everyone else who made the team. Next they will probably cut Daniel Obersteiner. :banghead: The only line that has been consistently able to create offense is the top line and the only player who has consistently been able to score goals is Samuel Witting. The lineup is small, light, and not particularly fast. It will be a very serious chore to avoid to relegated back to D1B, which is an absolute shame because the way the U16 team is playing, they deserve a chance when they reach 17 years old to push the team from D1A to WJC, not D1B to D1A. There is quite likely another beatdown scheduled tomorrow at the hands of the Swiss U18, then a more winnable game against the Vienna Caps U20. Once they reach the tournament the favorites will be Germany and Belarus, France has a good side and the Kazakhstan/Norway pair would be our hope to not get relegated.

A downside of our best players being in the Swiss league is that we would be limited as far as how much we can develop. Marco Rossi on our top line has played 2 Elite Novizen games, some of the opponents have played that many Elite Junioren games. That's why I thought we would lose today, though the players despaired after the Swiss scored the 3rd goal and collapsed mentally, which is ok they're 14 and 15 years old. That's why the local junior programs need to continue to be strengthened, as well as exports going to countries other than Switzerland such as Maier and Wetzelsberger. For now though, on to Norway, and the Bronze medal we deserve and I believe we will win. :)

#U18 Results are in against Switzerland.

    Switzerland 7:0 Austria

You make of it what you will. The tour began yesterday with a 5:1 loss to Germany and concludes on the 4th with a game against the Vienna Caps U20.

I'm not sure if there's a german idiom that has similar wording when translated. When someone says "you make of it what you will" in English what they mean is that they are just giving you statistics or fact and no opinions, and you can react to it or draw conclusions as you please.

I scoured the web to find and publish the score for the game early because I know that OEHV will probably not release an article with the result until tomorrow morning (afternoon in Austria). I don't quite understand your phrase. I'm assuming there's a similar german idiom. I also don't understand what I'm not getting satisfaction from. If you mean do I get satisfaction from posting scores and rosters, well it is true me and formerly maverick did kinda post scores for seemingly not one to see, but sports is best shared in my opinion and I really enjoy reading other people's opinions or even when they disagree with mine. Feel free to respond in german by the way, I can translate it and more importantly I don't want people feeling like they have to speak English around me, it's an Austrian forum and so it should be in the native language.

Victory! :veryhappy: The U16 team took care of business against Norway today 4-1 to seize the bronze medal. Two goals by Tim Harnsich, a goal by Paul Huber and a finishing touch by Julian Payr were all that was needed to seal the win and the first Six nations tournament medal in memory.

Ok, it seems I need a lot of German help. So as you probably read already, the U18 National Team lost to the Junior Capitals today 2-3. Goals were scored by Rene Trothan and Thomas Winkler. I'm not quite getting what is going on with the team however as described by the website and journalists. The OEHV website says

    Zitat

"Leider nicht in den Plan passen die vielen Verletzungen im österreichischen Team. Nach Jean Singer im Testspiel in Brno sind auch noch Simon Wolf und Martin Goritschnig angeschlagen. Für Yannic Pilloni gab es nach seiner Erkrankung kein grünes Licht für eine WM-Teilnahme."

I think it's the word angeschlagen that's tripping me up, it's being translated as "posted" or "attached" but those words don't mean anything in the context of the sentence (player injury). Is it saying that Singer, Wolf and Goritschnig are injured as well or that they are day-to-day?
Also, Herr Freimuller graciously left his commentary on the match here

    Zitat

"U18 heute 2:3 gegen CapsU20. Jetzt sagt auch Yannic Pilloni (krank) ab, damit fehlt Einserstürmer ebenso wie D-Leader Paul Sztatecsny..."

He says that D-leader Paul Sztatecsny is now injured and will be missing, however this is impossible because Paul Sztatecsny didn't even make the 27 man traveling team, and there are still 4 cuts to be made. I have the rosters below to show that he made the original 36 man cut but not the 27 man roster.

If anyone can help, thanks a lot. I don't think it was too bad of a game in the end, Vienna probably had Felix Maxa and Benjamin Nissner and those boys are good ballplayers.

Angeschlagen also means "damaged" and can be used for health issues (without specifying the exact reason). Often it is used for minor issues that could be played through if necessary but reduce performance (e.g. flu or groin strain).
