Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff will be back with the team next season, but some of his players may not return for the 2010-11 campaign, reports the Buffalo News.
Forwards Raffi Torres, Adam Mair and Mike Grier, defensemen Henrik Tallinder and Toni Lydman, and goalie Patrick Lalime are all set to become unrestricted free agents July 1.
While Torres and Grier are not expected to be re-signed, Sabres GM Darcy Regier has expressed his interest in retaining Tallinder and Lydman.
"It's something that we'll sit down and talk about with both of them," Regier told the News.
The Sabres want to solidify their defensive corps and add some extra fire power up front, and the paper brings up the question marks surrounding the future of Tim Connolly, who performed poorly during the first-round of the playoffs and has one-year and $4.5 million left on his deal.
"Oh, I don't know (if Connolly will be back)," Regier said. "Right now he's under contract, so I do expect him to be here. The 'I don't know' is a reference to the work we have to do, not limited to Tim Connolly. It's the whole team."
