newjerseydevils.com – Martin Brodeur will not start Monday against the Sabres after suffering a bruised elbow in Saturday's 6-1 win over Atlanta.Brodeur was set to undergo an X-ray and MRI Sunday, and will see his streak of consecutive regular-season starts end at a career-high 51 games dating back to Jan. 8 of last season. Goaltender Jeff Frazee, the Devils' second choice in 2005, has been called up from Trenton (ECHL) under emergency conditions.
Brodeur made five saves before leaving Saturday's game 6:38 into the second period. He was relieved by Kevin Weekes who posted 14 stops as Brodeur picked up career win No. 544. The four-time Vezina Trophy winner needs seven victories to tie Patrick Roy's all-time mark of 551, and sits 22 appearances shy of 1,000 games played.
Nochmal Schwein gehabt Devils. Mit Weekes hätte man wohl nicht über eine längere Zeit auskommen können.
