Seit dem 6. September findet in Vancouver und Victoria das Rookie Prospects Camp der Vancouver Canucks statt. Mit dabei ist natürlich Michael Grabner. (Link zum Kader)
Kurze Note von der Canucks-HP:
2006 first-round pick Michael Grabner hasn’t lost any speed despite packing a few pounds of obvious muscle on his 6’0” frame over the summer. Number 40 looked like the Austrian Bure in morning skates... (Link)
..und ein paar Eindrücke der Fans von Grabner nach dem gestrigen ersten Trainingstag:
Michael Grabner is not ready. He’s got the touch though. He puts it in the net almost every time he shoots. He can look at the goalie’s position and put it where he can’t get at it. And he can do it on the fly. But then he’s invisible and useless and, well I just think he needs some coaching to round out his game. He’s gonna have to learn to play defence to play under AV isn’t he? They’ll probably keep him until exhibition season at least but I don’t think he’s ready for the show. Also, he’s a right winger who shoots left – dime a dozen. Big time scoring touch though. (Link)
Grabner was ok. Didn't seem to be putting out the effort of Raymond though.(Link)
Grabner didn't have a great day, but he seemed to be paired against Luc Bourdon a lot, as my buddy said, that will make you a non-factor in a real hurry when you are doing a lot of one-on-one drills.
Grabner, on the other hand, was less impressive. Didn't really do much, but I have the feeling he is one of those guys that you don't really see until he scores. Not a playmaker, just a goal scorer.(Link)
grabner: at one point about 1.5hrs in I began thinking grabner wasn't taking part. i made a point of looking for him in 3on3 full-ice "scrimmage" and the next shift he ended up being the lone man back on d. he's not going to make it as a dman. he looked very disinterested the whole practise. one drill, the coaches would ring the puck around the boards and the player would pick it up and feed a guy coming in off the point. grabner missed the puck-twice! a couple of other guys missed it once, but he was the only guy to miss it twice. then the next time he was up, he still didn't use his body at all, just the blade of his stick. didn't miss it that time but I wasn't too impressed. definately has skill though. second part of same drill, player picks puck up off wall down low, takes it behind goalline then comes out same side and tries to score. he did a neat little spin thing, then when the keeper stayed with him he tried to flip it up and over. didn't work but showed great skill. hope his interest picks up as camp moves along though.(Link)
