LAKE ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Former NHL defenseman Rumun Ndur has been suspended 20 games by the United Hockey League for abuse of officials.
In his first season with the Danbury Trashers, Ndur received a match penalty in last Wednesday's game against Kalamazoo for kicking and physical abuse of officials.
The suspension began Friday and continues through Jan. 15.
Wings defenseman Josh Elzinga was suspended for five games after a match penalty for intent to injure in the same game. He is out through Dec. 11.
"We will not tolerate these types of actions on the ice to damage the integrity of our league," UHL vice president of operations Brad Jones said.
Six-foot-2, 244-pound Ndur played in 69 NHL games with the New York Rangers, Atlanta Thrashers and Buffalo Sabres.
He spent last season with the Columbus Cottonmouths of the ECHL, recording 241 penalty minutes in 70 games. Ndur amassed 159 penalty minutes in his first 21 contests with Danbury.
