    Salzburg gegen Olimpija = no love lost.

    Wenn RBS heute einfach fruh 2-3 Tore Vorsprung machte and dann KAC nie aus Linz mit 2 Punkte zuruck kommte ware es wahrscheinlich alles ok, oder? "Ha, ein einfacher Weg fur die Bullen und KAC ins 1/2 finale, oder?"

    Es gab fur RBS, KAC & co 40+10 Spiele Zeit um einen hocheren Platz zu erreichen. 1:7 gegen Sapa, Spiele mit 5,6 oder 7 Reihe absolvieren und 5:0 verlieren (zB 2009/10 gegen Jesenice) oder sogar uberhaupt nicht spielen (2010/11 im Laibach) ist genau das selbe als Olimpija's Penalty sch(e)issen.

    Unterschied? Olimpija's budget ist auch in diesem Jahr wieder unter 1 Mio gewesen ...

    (sorry for reverting back to English, just want to avoid any misunderstandings related to the translation - see what the language barrier's done to poor Mr. Page, eh?)

    According to RBS' press officer, everything's fine, no need to raise the alarm: it's JUST the Ljubljana team that promotes violence, no problem. Well, that's fine then, but let's just try and stick to the facts ...

    Why did RBS depart Ljubljana before Game 4? Red Bull and/or Servus TV should fire the translator 'cause obviously he didn't just misinterpret the "violence" part (see above), he also didn't translate that question to Mr. Page correctly - all we got in his yesterday's manifesto was a loooong lamentation about Game 2 and the long history of Ljubljana's criminal offences (including a somehow notorious incident about the police stopping the armed fans going to the Linz game in 2008: the trouble is, that had been a completely fabricated story by a small section of the Austrian media - there had been no Ljubljana bus going to the game, no fans on it etc etc - the "media mistake" had been admitted later, yet somehow quietly, of course).

    Also, funnily enough the only video sequence in the show had been the video of the Hebar incident - with Mr. Pototschnig somehow hastily stopped the minute he mentioned an unsactioned foul by an RBS player preceding the incident.

    Hats off to Pilloni for stating the pretty bloody obvious fact that it's always the Red Bull playing the victim. Also, Dalpiaz acted like his pants were pretty full, he looked scared shitless about losing his commentating job. Admitedly, Gaudet is a funny guy - I just don't know how he managed to get an occasional beer thrown at him in Tivoli - FYI, alcohol had been (somehow sadly) banned in Slovenian sport arenas years ago...

    Anyhow, there's no complaining about the Red Bulls own TV selling the Red Bull story - it's just a shame that this same TV is also the official broadcaster of the EBEL league - and this is where I think the serious problem starts.


    It's not about the scapegoats and Page making sure to show that RBS is a better, stronger, more powerful and more civilised club than some Ljubljana team or any other minor opposition, it's
    a) about his conviction that he should not only be judged but be a judge himself
    b) about the leagues inability to stop him or even show an intent of stopping him

    There's an interesting debate about today's game going on in Ljubljana: should Olimpija depart to the game and play at all? The club has lost some 20.000-30.000 euro in ticket box revenue on Sunday and it's completely unclear whether this amount is going to be paid back and by whom. Now does anyone know
    a) who's going to tell the Red Bulls to cover the cost?
    b) who's going to sanction them once they don't oblige
    c) what the "punishment" will be: a 2-month suspension for some lady working in the RBS accounts, a handshake before the next Ljubljana home game (best played on neutral ground somewhere closer to SZB) and a warning that the next team not paying the penalty is going to be kicked out?

    What a fuc... joke.

    Es ist eigentlich eine Schande, dass wir jetzt offensichtlich nach SZB reisen müssen um ein Spiel zu sehen. Gilt vielleicht morgen meine Olimpija Abo-Karte? (für Spiel 4 gestern wäre es schon ok) :)

    Als wir gerade bei dieses Thema sind, gibt es morgen überhaupt ein Spiel oder nicht? Ich würde es wirklich gerne zusehen, aber 3 Stunden zu fahren um Herrn Page zu hören, dass er wieder etwas nicht mag, das mache ich lieber nicht ...

    Here's a quick translation of the statement given by Olimpija's representative (of course, ha must be a liar too, right?) present in person on today's meetings in case you bothered to read it instead of just putting the blame to the other side ... ;)

    Today at 1PM, we had a meeting in the Tivoli attended by League Director Feichtinger, vice president of the Austrian Ice Hockey Federation Schramm, Head of Security Service responsible for the event, representative of the Police and the representatives of the clubs. We looked at the situation in the hall where the Security Service put a physical barrier (a fence) separating bottom three rows of the seats from the rest. Following a request made by the representatives of the league, an aprox 5 cm wide gap between the glass behind the bench and the glass covering the bench itself were tied togehther, too (probably just in case something was thrown from the fourth row). Security Service has further enhanced the fence with cables and made it impossible to be separated.

    For the match, 30 additional security guards were provided, of which 15 would stand in immediate proximity to Salzburg bench.

    At 2PM, another meeting took place with RBS's director and the head of the Pierre Page's security representative. At the meeting, Feichtinger read all the requirements that were sent to Olimpija after the Match 2 and noted that the club had fulfilled all the requirements. Representatives of Salzburg, together with the police and security service also went through a complete protocol of arrival and departure of Salzburg players (to and from the hall) and protection before, during and after the game.

    It was also agreed that after the second period, the beer stand selling drinks in front of Tivoli would close so the visitors wouldn't gather close to the RBS bus.
    The meeting ended and the entire delegation went to re-view the situation in the hall. It was noted that the safety was taken care of as requested.


    Shortly before 3PM the Salzburg representative announced that the team did not feel safe in Ljubljana and that they have been on the way to Salzburg.

    Olimpija had been sanctioned with 3000 EUR penalty for the previous match and ordered not to sell the rows 1-3 behind the RBS bench for today's match. According to the statement cited above, the league director and vicepresident came to Ljubljana today and stated that Olimpija had done everything that had to be done. Obviously, it hadn't been enough for Page so he decided to pull back to Salzburg some 3 hours before the game with no one actually doing anything against him or his team today.

    The RBS team arrived yesterday, practised in the Tivoli arena only to inform the home team representatives today at around 2PM that "they didn't feel safe adn decided not to play the game".
    FYI, there were absolutely no people apart from tennis fans (watching the Davis Cup in the neighbouring hall) around Tivoli and absolutely no signs that anything could happen. Also, the ticket sales weren't really promising so I don't think Tivoli would be "hot" under any circumstances today.
    Great stuff, Mr. Page, I'm sure you wouldn't feel too good in Vienna or Klagenfurt (not to mention Villach) too so don't even bother going to away games, just play the home ones ... :)

    Sorry about posting in English, bin eigentlich zu enttäuscht (aber nicht überrascht) um meine Gedanken auf Deutsch zu formulieren. If that's a problem, I'll re-post the whole thing ... ;)

    This latest decision just shows that the Senate is clearly using double standards and turning itself into a joke. Without going into the whole Hebar case too deep again, I'll just do the maths and state that a player (at least a home grown one) can actually attack the referee twice and still get back to the ice before the one mentioned above.

    There are clear similarities of the cases:

    - both players are something of a ticking bomb temper-wise
    - both have been excellent players and scorers and not primarily bullies on the ice
    - both have had bad ref's decisions preceding the incident
    - both had been hit by the opponent just before going crazy
    - both did something that is simply unacceptable in hockey - one attacking and hitting the opponent with his stick, the other attacking the referee)

    but still the Senate managed to hand out two bans that can't be compared.
    Kicked out Hebar for the rest of the season? Fine, but then keep this (even if it's ridiculous) standard to all cases, right?

    Simply put, there had been two sets of rules applied to the cases. I don't want to start another "non-Austrians are discriminated" thread but let me just set one thing straight: if ex. Olimpija or Jesenice (not to mention Alba - imagine how many games ex. Palkovics would have got for an attack on the ref) players attacked a ref each time a decision was taken against them, we wouldn't have enough players to put on ice at some stage around Round 10 or 15.

    The Tschebulls, Fussis etc of this league perhaps deserve to be "lightly pushed in the chest" (is that what Rotter admitted to?) at each and every game but players just can't do that, can they?

    So whatever your reply might be, please don't give me the "it's not ok but it's understandable he hit the ref 'cause he had been absolutely lousy or bloody awful" crap. ;)

    Ich wollte eigentlich nicht darüber schreiben, bevor die Straffensenat Entscheidung gefallen ist.
    Ich bin gegen Brutalität auf Eis und ich denke etwa 15 Spiele Strafe für Hebar wäre (vielleicht sogar zusammen mit ein Paar für Puschnik und sein gefährliches Crosscheck, das auch mit einer Verletzung enden könnte) ganz in Ordnung.

    Die 34+ Spiele Strafe finde ich zynisch aber überhaupt nicht überraschend nachdem ich das TV-Diktat von Page auf Red Bull (oops, Servus) TV gesehen habe. Dies ist eine "à la carte Strafe" und es macht mich ... (na ja, ich sage es lieber nicht).

  • 45.R.: HDD Tilia Olimpija Ljubljana-Klagenfurter AC

    Habe gestern das Spiel live gesehen.

    Was soll man sagen: so ein schlechtes KAC habe ich gegen Olimpija in dieser Liga noch nicht gesehen. Vielleicht nicht die stärkste Klagenfurter Mannschaft ohne Schellander & co aber sicher viel stärker als die Laibacher Jungs (Olimpija spielte im Angriff zB mit Banham-Z.Pance-J-Golicic / Music-Ropret-E.Pance / Jan-Hocevar-Muric - alle bekannte Namen, ja? :S ).

    Die Laibacher haben aber ein grosses Herz gezeigt und das war eigentlich genug. Keine Idee im Spiel bei KAC - die Spieler haben wirklich einen schlechten Eindruck gemacht. Vielleicht stimmt zwischen die Spieler und den Coach auch nicht alles ...?


    Ah ja, und über Fussi rede ich lieber nicht zu viel. Zu viele Fehlentscheidungen (meistens gegen Olimpija) - den PP2 hat Laibach eigentlich bekommen, weil das zweite Foul ein klares PS war. Der Schiri "dachte" eigentlich nicht so und gab dazu ziemlich Schnell dem Mitchell (Kapitän) auch ein Game Misconduct - der Amerikaner hat erst dann richtig seinen Kopf verloren ... :D

Die Endzahl der Laibacher "Fans" (Hooligans?) gegen die eigentlich ein Polizei Strafantrag gestellt war is punktlich Null.

    Aber das ist tatsächlich kein Thema - die Leute, die nach Graz woll(t)en, haben mit diese Idioten nicht zu tun. Die Reise wurde zusammen mit die Werbeagentur planiert die für Olimpija das neue "Brand", die Website usw für 2008/09 gestalten hat; und, noch einmal, alle Fans haben alle ihre Daten angegeben um zu zeigen, dass wir keine Hooligans sind sondern ganz normale Fans, die schon in alle Hallen in dieser Liga zu Gast waren. Letztlich ging man auch nach Klagenfurt, Szekesfehervar und Villach - wo uns die ganze Halle, wie gehabt, mit "freundliche" Jugo-Schweine Rufe empfangt hat ... - über das hat die EBEL natürlich nie und nimmer offiziell gesprochen ... )

  • 49. Runde: Graz 99ers - Olimpija Laibach 4:1

    Noch ein bischen über Thema Laibacher Fans: die rund 100, die kommen woll(t)en waren keine Dragons sondern normale Fans die organisiert mit 2 Buse (so wie zB nach Salzburg im Dezember) die Reise machen woll(t)en. Als die Reise im voraus organisiert war, stellten alle diese Fans ihre Daten (Name, Adresse, Handy-Nummer usw) der Polizei und dem Klub zur Verfügung. Dass dieser Fan-Klub keine Verbindung mit die "Dragons" hat ist den Fans, dass mindestends einmal in Laibacher Tivoli waren (inkl Grazer Fans), ganz klar.

    (Die Benutzer müssen sich zuerst Registrieren und dann ein kurzer test Eintrag - "hallo, bin ein Hockey fan, will mehr über thema EBEL/SLO wissen/diskutieren ..." posten).

  • Finale - 1. Spiel: EC Red Bull Salzburg - HDD Olimpija Ljubljana 2:3 n.P.

    Salzburg sah im 1/2 Finale wirklich gut aus. Auf die andere Seite kann ich als Olimpija Fan nicht mehr feststellen, wie Lange diese unsere Serie eigentlich dauern kann. Im Tivoli hat Olimpija im PO noch nicht verloren ...

    Die Fans hier sind gestern nach dem Spiel direkt nach Ticket Verkauf-Punkte gegangen (durch Eventim system kann mann die Karten zB auf viele Tankstellen kaufen). Es gab komische Szenen - dort wo ich aus Neugier geblickt habe (habe dank Gott mein Abo schon im August bezahlt) gab es um Mitternacht mehr als 50 Leute in der Reihe - und dann kam die Nachricht dass es überhaupt kein Vorverkauf bis Dienstag Nachmittag gibt ... :)

    P.S. Wenn man die Karte(n) für die Spiele in Ljubljana kriegen will, tausche ich die gerne für ein Paar Karten für die Spiele im Salzburg ... (Genaueres auf PM)

  • Halbfinale - 4. Spiel: Olimpija Ljubljana - EHC Black Wings Linz 3:2

    Na ja, mMn war Olimpija gestern nicht mehr die Mannschaft, die nur eine Linie und einen Wunder-Goalie hat und auf der Konter spielt. Die Jungs (akhm, die Opas?) zeigten mehr Ideen, Energie und Aggressivität als im zB Spiel 1. Auch nicht so bekannte (hochgeehrte?) Spieler wie Muric, Music und Hocevar haben gestern viel gezeigt.

    Das Ende ist das eigentlich noch nicht.
