Hungarian goaltender Adam Vay has been turning heads at the IIHF
World Championships over the last few days, making save after save in
losses to the United States and Finland.
The Minnesota Wild have noticed, signing the 6-foot-5, 210-pound goaltender to a two-year, entry level contract.
Vay made 35 saves in a 5-1 loss to the U.S. after making 48 saves in a 3-0 loss to Finland for hopelessly overmatched Hungary.
A native of Budapest, Vay spent the 2015-16 season with the MOL
Liga's Debreceni HK, posting a 2.77 GAA and a .927 save percentage.
He spent the 2014-15 season in the U.S., registering a 2.03 GAA
and a .923 save percentage for the El Paso Rhinos of the Western States
Hockey League.
