Leider neutralisieren sich starke Teams in solch wichtigen Partien oft komplett. Sehr mäßig zum Anschauen.

    Was uns aufgefallen ist:

Dass auch schwedische Topteams ein langes 5:3 Powerplay auslassen

Dass auch schwedische Topteams 5 Minuten vor Schluss eine too many players-Strafe ziehen

Dass auch in so wichtigen Partien Fehlentscheidungen von Schiris getroffen werden (klare Spielverzögerung von JYP)

    Glückwunsch an Jyväskylä!

Spielt kommende Saison definitiv kein Eishockey.

Daniel Paille cancels season to focus on rehabilitation: ”Overwhelmed by all the support”

Daniel Paille and Brynäs have reached an agreement to cancel the final season at the two year contract. The 34 year old forward needs to focus on his rehabilition – and at the same time wishes to thank the people in Gävle and Sweden overall for their support.”I can’t say enough how much I’ve appreciated how great the community in Gävle was to me through my two years in Brynäs”, he says.

Recruited from North America, via the New York Rangers and two spells in the AHL, Daniel Paille had a great first year in Sweden, the SHL and Brynäs IF.

The forward played a big role when the club moved on to the SHL finals and challenged HV71 for the title. Already earlier during the season the former captain of the Canada team at the world juniors signed a two year extension being seen as a long time leader by the general manager Stefan Bengtzén. But those two years, written over the season of 18/19, never got the see their full potential. In november 2017 Daniel Paille got attacked in a CHL game against german club Adler Mannheim. The attack that has been world wide criticized caused a head injury that still, up to this point, hasn’t healed. The injury have forced Daniel Paille and Brynäs IF to make a decision about the remaining year of the contract. This has lead to a situation where both parties have reached an agreement to end the contract in order for Daniel Paille to be able to put all his focus to heal and have a normal life again.

DP: A general day for me right now is just about trying to get better. I’ve been seeing specialists to try and sort it out and continue to acquire treatment. Aside from that I have a newborn son, born a month ago. Our first child. We’re excited for sure and another reason for me having to focus on getting to a 100 percent.

How far away from that point are you right now?

DP: It’s hard to say at this point. I’m much better than I was throughout the season. But there are still symptoms that are troubling and I’m kind of limited. Everytime I get treatment I’m told that it is a slow process with head injuries, especially one with that amount of impact. But as I said, I do have good things and positive signs to look forward to and try to look at life outside of hockey to enjoy with my family.

The former first round draft pick by the Buffalo Sabres and Stanley cup champion with the Boston Bruins now live in Boston with his family. Daniel Paille have had talks over the summer with Brynäs GM Stefan Bengtzén leading up to this decision.

DP: Our form of communication went well. I would have loved to play for Brynäs at least another year if not more. I really enjoyed my time with the city, the fans and the group of guys that we had. From my talks with Stefan he enjoyed my time in the club as well and that made the situation easier. There are certainly things more important in life, and one is the mental health. He was very understanding and both sides knew that we both, at some point, had to move on. There has been frustration over the injury to prevent me from playing this year. But at some point I had to accept the situation I’m in.

Over the two seasons at Brynäs Daniel Paille felt a lot of support from the fans.

DP: They have been extremely supportive. I had my first year with my dad passing and then to the injury that happened during the second year. Like I said earlier I really appreciated the guys in the team and I know there are a group of them coming over to play here in this season. I will definitely will keep in touch with them and follow how they progress. I will also continue to follow Brynäs with the fan base and the group of people there. I hope that everyone is happy with the way I was able to help the team in any way. I tried to say the right things and lead by example and hope that people and my teammates were able to see that. I also want to add that the support from Sweden overall has definitely been overwhelming.

When it comes to discuss the attack and injury that’s causing Paille to cancel the season he addresses the matter with the league and it’s way of handling the players safety.

DP: I want to see better rules applied to the league. Not the SHL but the CHL. They need to take more accountablity regarding players safety. And that includes all players, not just the swedish. Probably the most frustration point in all of this process has been to ensure that the players safety is at the most importance.

At this point Daniel Paille hasn’t started to think about his future in hockey further than the decision about the 2018/19 season.

DP: My focus right now is getting better. At this point I don’t want to focus on my playing career. Everyday is about getting better and unfortunately that is moving slower than I would have liked. Once I feel 100 percent I’ll decide what is best at that time. I don’t want to make a decision right now, I want to wait until I have a clear head.

Following comments made by the Brynäs IF general manager Stefan Bengtzén:

SB: We’ve reached an agreement with Daniel Paille in terms of him having to exit his career at Brynäs IF as a result of his injury in the CHL last season. Daniel is still far from rehabilitated after his injury and will not play for Brynäs this season which also leads to us reaching an agreement to settle the remaining part of his contract. It is terribly sad that it came to this point. I’ve said it many times before and I feel for Daniel and his family. It was a completely idiotic attack where the puck was nowhere near the player.
