    first of all, really great messageboard :thumbup:

    but a hockey-messageboard without this topic... no way ;)


    Everyone knows that on a record breaking level, no one will ever shatter Gretzky's record.
    But on a talent level, I give the edge to Lemieux.

    I have never seen a player that can use his skill, size, and talent like lemieux. This guy was just so fun to watch.
    He was just amazing one on ones, at times he had several players on him and would amazingly come out with the puck and score a highlight goal or assist. He was just phenominal in any situation he was in.

    What I remember the most about him is as difficult as it was to score or make a play, he made things look so easy.
    It was like a walk in the park for him. This guy was able to score practically anywhere on the ice.

    Wayne Gretzky was amazing, cant take that away from him.
    But I believe that we will never see again a player that has the skills, strenghts and smarts as super mario.

    Too bad he was slowed down by health problems.
    That's why i say we will never know whose better, Gretzky or Lemieux, but of w hat i seen of Lemieux, his talent is superior than the Great One.

    Lemieux alleine schon deshalb, weil er seinen schwierigsten Kampf gewann: Krebs geschlagen und 2000 sogar nochmal aufs Eis zurückgekehrt. Ansonsten hätte er wohl so einige Gretzkyrekorde gebrochen. Keine Frage Gretzky ist ein Hockeygott, aber Lemieux steht ihm um Nichts nach.

    No one wil ever come near to the Points Total of Gretzky. Maybe when you look at the Goals, but the Assists are well out of reach for anybody in this league. I mean 120 Assists + 92 Goals in one season? What the fuck...

    When you look closer at the stats of Gretzky you will see, he was dynamite 1980-1990, but afterwards he wasn`t that good. Unfortunately Lemieux didn`t play many full seasons.

    dem stimm ich zu, lemieux hatte schon eine einzigartige karriere, vor allem das comeback nach dem krebs und das als teambesitzer in den späten 90ern machen ihn für mich zum größten spieler aller zeiten. gretzky wurde mMn von den medien mehr gehypt, seine leistungen in den 80ern und frühen 90ern in allen ehren aber das war auch im hockey noch eine andere zeit. und ohne seine beschützer wär er wohl auch nie so weit gekommen.
